The Christian's Inheritance

In the New Testament there are eighteen references to the Christian's inheritance. We have a promise of an inheritance that far exceeds any inheritance that is available on this earth. In Paul's letter to the Ephesians, he expounds on the fact that we have an inheritance that comes equipped with a earnest which is called the Holy Ghost. Those who have ever experienced the Holy Ghost know that they have something that far exceeds anything that this world has to offer.

Ephesians 1:4-14
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

In verse 4 of the above citation, we are told that we have been chosen from before the world was even formed. We have been predestinated from the very beginning of time. This does not mean as some think that we have no choice, for God is not limited to the constraints of time like we are. In the Spiritual world time is irrelevant. The concept of time is based solely on our experience. But with God, who is not constrained by time like us, knows the end from the beginning.

Isaiah 46:10
10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

Revelation 22:13
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

God is not constrained by time and he knows what choices that we will make prior to us making them. He may have seen us in the same instance of time many times over replicating the same decisions over and over again. Therefore the Bible can say that we are predestinated for the Lord knows what our decision will be when we reach the moment of decision. Though the Lord would like for us to choose one way over the other, he still knows what our choice will be, for he has seen our choice already.

Not only are we predestinated for salvation, but we have been adopted by Jesus Christ and we are His heir. The Lord has seen fit that we will make the choice to believe in Him, and that we will grow in grace in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is His good pleasure and will that we have been chosen from before the foundation of the world to choose Him as our Lord and Saviour.

Jesus has seen to it that we have redemption through His own precious blood and we have salvation through Him. There is no other way to enter into heaven than through the Lord Jesus Christ. It is Jesus that has made us his heirs. It is Jesus that has put the desire in out heart to serve Him. It is Jesus that has given us His Holy Spirit as an earnest of the coming of our real inheritance.

And that precious inheritance is spending eternity with the Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven. To forever be with the Lord, and we cannot fathom to imagine what the Lord has prepared for them that love and seek after Him. And that reward is for them that love Him and His appearing.

1 Corinthians 2:9
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

Now is the time to make your election and calling sure. Today is the day of salvation. For no matter what people say about those who have deceased, everyone will be judged by the righteous judge Jesus Christ. The Bible says that there will be no adulterers, whoremongers and etc in heaven.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10
9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Look at this list, and examine yourselves to see if you are prepared to enter in the kingdom of heaven. If you are not prepared to enter into heaven now is the time to repent and ask Jesus to come into your heart. Now is the time to seek the Lord with all of your heart and tell Jesus that you are sorry for the life that you have lead. Now is the time to open up your heart to the Lord and if you do, He will come in and sup with you.
