First off I want to wish everyone happy Valentines day. This is supposed to be a day devoted to love. But what most people see is only the outside trappings. They don't see what's on the inside. An example is a computer program. The user only sees the user interface and doesn't see the real program.
Here is a small program that I made just to show as an example. This program doesn't do anything, but just is an example.
When you see this program you see a nice picture but you don't see the inside. All that is shown is a nice outward shell. Also I choose this picture of the earth because you can't see the 4 billion people, each with their own problems and joys. Looking at the earth from the moon shows just how tiny the earth is in comparison to the universe. Conversely, when you look at a computer program all you see is the user interface and not the code that is behind the program.
Then there are the people that you see on the street. Some look really nice and distinguished while others look really seedy. Judging a person by their looks has a habit of surprising you. The ones that look really nice and distinguished can turn out to be real cads, while some person with dread locks, jewelry, and etc may turn out to be your saviour.
#! /usr/bin/perl use Tk; $topwindow = MainWindow->new(); $topwindow->title ("Full Gospel Church"); # Create Empty sizing frame $emptyframe=$topwindow->Frame(width => '640')->pack(side=>'top', fill=>'x'); # Create Button Bar Frame $Buttonframe=$topwindow->Frame( background=>'orange', relief=>'raised' )->pack(side=>'top', fill=>'x'); $button1=$Buttonframe->Button( background=>'DeepSkyBlue1', command=>sub {exit()}, text=>' Quit ', height=>'3', relief=>'raised' )->pack(ipadx=>'2m', side=>'left'); $button2=$Buttonframe->Button( background=>'SkyBlue1', command=> sub {exit()}, text=>' Full Gospel Church ', height=>'3', relief=>'raised' )->pack(ipadx=>'2m', side =>'left'); $wkframe=$topwindow->Frame()->pack(side=>'top'); $image_1=$wkframe->Photo(img, file=>'earth.gif'); $lab1=$wkframe->Label(image=>'img', relief=>'sunken', )->pack(); MainLoop();
Even looking at the perl code that I used to create the above interface and looking at the interface itself are two completely different things. people may see the interface and think that is a nice program though it really does nothing. As you can see both buttons call exit and the program quits.
Rita and I were in a book store this past week and there was one person there that had dread locks, long hair, body piercing, jewelry, and etc. Rita made a comment that she wouldn't like to meet him in a back alley or side street somewhere. But, here was a man that was perusing a book store, not a street thug. Most of the brain dead street thugs will never show their face in a book store for they cannot read. They are one of the many who have dropped out of school and only have their brawn to rely on. They are not the type that will be seen looking through the stacks of books searching for a good topic to read.
There is one though that can see the entire span of the universe and yet focus on the needs of one minute individual on a tiny speck of dust orbiting one of the billions or trillions of stars in the entire universe. Not only that, but this one supreme being can even see the inner thoughts of the individuals on the earth. He not only sees the outside but pierces down through the inner soul seeing all of the hidden thoughts of man.
1 Samuel 16:7
7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the
height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as
man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on
the heart.
1 Kings 8:39
39 Then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give
to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou, even
thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men;)
1 Chronicles 28:9
9 And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him
with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all
hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek
him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off
for ever.
Psalms 11:1-7
1 In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your
mountain?
2 For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the
string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.
3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
4 The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD's throne is in heaven: his eyes
behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.
5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence
his soul hateth.
6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible
tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
7 For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold
the upright.
Jeremiah 17:9-10
9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can
know it?
10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man
according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
Romans 2:1-5
1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for
wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest
doest the same things.
2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them
which commit such things.
3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and
doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and
longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to
repentance?
5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself
wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of
God;
Whereas man looks at the outside, God perceives the heart of man. As Christians we also need to take a deeper look at those around us, for not everything is as we perceive it to be. For man does not have the ability to pierce down through the outward covering and see the heart and soul of man. But God is able to see the inner workings and knows the inner thoughts of man.
