The Dawn of a New Age

This past week Rita and I were invited to watch some video tapes from the Buckminster Fuller Institute which portrayed Prof. Fuller in the mid 70's proclaiming that the human race was about to be reborn into a new age. His premise was that for thousands of years man developed very slowly with hardly any noticeable change. All of the sudden the 20th century brought significant changes to the world. In the past century we went from horse and buggy transportation to supersonic jet travel on British Airlines. What took over a week at the beginning of this century is now accomplished in a few hours. As far as communication is concerned, the beginning of this century had the telegraph. Now there is the Internet that enables people to communicate across the world. Along with the Internet, People can place real time phone calls over the Internet. Also what cost millions of dollars just 25 years ago, can now be had for as little as $500.00. Computers today are very cheap and more powerful than the computers that NASA had in 1969 that put a man on the moon. Also concerning space travel, we have already been to the moon and back. At the present time there is study into warp speed travel.

All of these tremendous advances just in this past century is like the advancement of a baby in the womb. In the last couple months of pregnancy is when the child develops at an accelerated rate. This is why Prof. Fuller compared the development of the human race to that of a developing baby. The Bible also declares that in the last days there will be a tremendous advancement and increase of knowledge.

Daniel 12:1-13
1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.
6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?
9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.
13 But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.

This past century we went from a slow, backward society to one that routinely communicates around the world on a daily basis. We went from sending messages via Morse code to sending documents in written, speech, animation, and music around the world. If you think about this today we can send a message like the following code:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML3.2//EN">
<html>
<head>
<title>Some Title</title>
</head>
<body>
<!-- Beginning of Document -->

Here you can place type, pictures, programs, and even animation.
This is basically how all of the web pages are created on the
world wide web.

<!-- End of Document -->
</body>
</html>

Though the above example of html code is very terse, the depth and ability is totally up to the writer at to what to include. Even today there is animated mail being sent to people. Even today the increase in knowledge is escalating in the computer community. One article that I read stated that the author had a hard time keeping up with the rapid development of all of the new software that is being developed. This is just an example that truly we are in the last days.
