The Alpha and Omega

Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Without the Lord Jesus there is nothing or can be anything. Without Jesus you have nothing and the world, the universe, or even the dust would never have been made.

Revelation 1:1-11
1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
Revelation 21:1-6
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Revelation 22:13
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

Before the world was made or even created God first made light. Before any of the elements were made light was made first. Before any of the cosmic gases were made that scientists say were joined together to form the galaxies, light was created before anything else that was made. All things that are seen, felt, or experienced in any way Jesus made.

John 1:1-5
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
John 1:10-14
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Jesus is the light, but not just our spiritual light, but the physical light that we need to see. He was the one who created everything, including light that enables us to perceive the world around us. Without Jesus there is no light, there is no matter, and there is no universe. All things are made by him, and without him there is nothing. Jesus truly is the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last.

Even today the world doesn't recognize Jesus as the creator of the universe. Even today with all of the knowledge that has been acquired, there is no room for Jesus in the hearts of men. John tells us that Jesus came to his own and his own received him not. Even as we celebrate Palm Sunday, the world looks upon the triumphal entry into Jerusalem by Jesus as just another great man or politician being able to sway the crowd and make them believe in him. The world cannot acknowledge that Jesus is the creator, and the Saviour of man. For if they did, then they would have to both acknowledge that they were created by a superior intellect, and that they are in need of a divine Saviour.

The world refuses to acknowledge Jesus for who he really is so that they can justify the execution of the unborn, wars, and slaughter on every hand. Where Jesus gives life, the world destroys. Where Jesus gives freedom, the world gives bondage and slavery in the name of saving the world. Can you see why the world cannot truly acknowledge Jesus Christ? Can you see the ramifications that would occur if the world really accepted Jesus as their Creator and Saviour?
