Introduction to Bible Prophecy

The Seven Churches in Asia

Lesson 3

Turkey with the Seven Churches of Asia

Map of Turkey

Last week we discussed the first three churches in Asia that are described in Revelation. This week we will be talking about the remaining four churches in Asia.

Thyatira

Revelation 2:18-29

18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;
19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.
20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.
25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
28 And I will give him the morning star.
29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Here we see the Lord described as having eyes like unto a flame of fire and feet like fine brass. The Lord's eyes are continually watching over the church. His eyes pierce through everything seeing all of the hidden sins. There is nothing that is hid from the Lord Jesus! The Lord's feet are like fine brass, and not like iron. Brass is a soft metal and the Lord doesn't have feet like Iron that stamps the residue with his feet as described in Daniel and the image of the beast.

The 19th verse mentions works twice. The Lord knows all of our works, including our past works and our present works. Thyatira had two kinds of works, both good and bad. The bad was overpowering the good. This church allowed a false teacher to come in and teach hearse causing the congregation to commit adultery and fornication.

This church allowed a woman as evil as Ahab's wife Jezebel to teach and seduce the church with all of the evils of the Jezebel mentioned in the Old Testament.

1 Kings 18-25

18 Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he is gone down to possess it.
19 And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine.
20 And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.
21 Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,
22 And will make thine house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin.
23 And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.
24 Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.
25 But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.

Here we see how Jezebel stirred up Ahab and corrupted him more than he was. Out of all of the Queens of Samaria, she was the worse. Now we see this same kind of doctrine in the Christian church where currently there are many who teach that all of the sins mentioned in the Bible are perfectly OK to commit. A large number of main line churches currently teach that adultery, fornication, lasciviousness, homo sexuality, and all of the other sins mentioned in the Bible are perfectly normal and condoned by the church. The current wicked teaching is that God made you that way and you cannot help yourself. This is none other than the teaching of Jezebel.

Today this wicked teaching of Jezebel is wide spread in the Christian community. How can they call themselves Christian and promote the perversion of Jezebel?

Finally those who overcome the evil seductions of Jezebel the Lord will give them:

Heed the warning of the wickedness of the evil teaching that is perpetrated in a large number of the churches today. The evil teaching of Jezebel will only get you into the church of Satan. If you are under a liberal church that condones the living in sin, it is time to seek a church that teaches righteousness as is written in the Bible.

Sardis

Revelation 3:1-6

1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
