John M.6 Cressey (John W.5, John4, Daniel3, John2, Mighill1) was born in Buxton, Maine, June 17, 1784; baptized by Rev. Paul Coffin, 1785, married October 18, 1806, Hannah E., daughter of John and Sarah (Bradbury) Owens of Buxton, born January 1, 1782. Her father was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, 1775, in Captain John Elden's Company and Colonel Tristram Jordan's Regiment. Her mother's brother, Jacob Bradbury, Esq., was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, and was chosen the first Representative to the General Court of Mass. from the Town of Buxton. Mr. Cressey lived on his father's farm, and in the two-story house his father built about 1795, all his life. After he bought more land the farm contained about 150 acres of tillage, pasture and timber land, and cut about 50 tons of hay. He kept a good stock of cattle, was one of 11 charter members of the Second Free Baptist Church in Buxton, organized April 8, 1834, in the home of George Carll, Esq.; first pastor Rev. Jonathan Clay. Mr. Cressey gave timber to help build the meetinghouse and paid $26.00 for a pew. He was administrator of his brother Benjamin's property in 1865. His wife, Hannah Owen Cressey, died January 25, 1865, at 83. He died September 3, 1868, at 84.

Sally, born November 4, 1808, married 1831 Gardner Brooks of Portland, Maine, born 1806 in Freedom, New Hampshire; was in cooperage business in Portland and Buxton; members Free Baptist Church in Buxton, 1840. He served as selectman of Buxton in 1853; moved back to Portland about 1860. She died 1879 in 71st year. He died 1882 at 76; buried in Evergreen Cametery.
